Terror In The Swamp

Terror in the Swamp

Low budget, filmed in New Orleans monster laughs starring screenwriter Billy Holliday, Chuck Long and Chuck Bush in a pile of slimy swamp trash that opens with creature POV, an asthma attack, a spot of wildlife, some Jaws (74) music and a ridiculous gory murder.

Later on, there’s much, much, much more wildlife footage, more minutes of swamp boat tedium, flappy action, moonshine, gingham, mad science and even some crop dusting. All which go to prop up a spazzy story about a toxic, big foot/swamp monster Nutria-Man who shows up for a bit—then pretty much disappears… Balls.

Mostly, this small time clunker is kept breathing by its amateur, stumbling and very watchable cast of ‘local's’ who add a zing of natural syntax and good-ol-boy dialogue to the scant running time, but you won’t care unless ye like watching fat hillbillys wear oily dungarees—mouth agape—scratching their ass. Fans of poop with no heart will giggle and get a kick out of it all, as it eventually contains gunfire, and a few gay commandos.

Light years from being memorable or even half assed, blame lies with the obvious lack of funds or the directors retarded decision to keep the wheezy man-in-a-suit creature attacks off screen.
