The Rest of 2008

One of the main goals of this site is to let people know about lesser-known films we find interesting, whether they're gems or trash. In keeping with that goal, rather than having a Best-of 2008 list I’ve decided to put up this post and encourage people to comment on films they saw over the year that they think other people might have missed.

It could be something you saw at a festival or in another country that isn’t available yet, or just something you loved and feel didn’t get enough attention. If you’ve reviewed it or written about it, please feel free to mention that or leave a link!

Somtum is one film I don't think has gotten enough love; I'm still the only reviewer listed on IMDB. The DVD is available and is fairly inexpensive but it doesn't come with English subtitles. Not to fear, however, as there are some excellent fansubs available if you want to check it out.

Detroit Metal City was my favorite film at TIFF and possibly my favorite film of the year. It's a lot of fun and I hope that a DVD comes out soon. I'd love to see it again.

The Good, the Bad, and the

The Good, the Bad, and the Weird was a great film, as were Rise of the Footsoldier and Randy Cole's Real Time. All three are worth a look.

I definitely agree

I've seen The Good, The Bad, and the Weird and Rise of the Footsoldier and recommend both highly. I'll have to check out the third.
