Filmed partially in Shaw Bros Hong Kong studios, produced by Harry Alan Towers and based on characters created by Fu Manchu author Sax Rohmer, here's a vintage slice of ice-cool girl power spy action starring 60's uber-fox Shirley Eaton as chinese devil woman Su Maru—a homicidal villain with an obedient army of killer hellcats worthy of any 007 outing.
Su Maru has a fab secret base and female spies all over the world (her 'million eyes'). She blows up a family at a funeral before the opening credits and wages war on mankind; going so far as to execute any of her girls who fall in love (a females 'only' weakness). Just as she's about to kill all the men and rule all the world, sassy Maru is confronted by British spy master Wilfred Hyde-White (Murder By Rope—36), american twonk Frankie Avalon (Sargent Deadhead—65), creepy Klaus Kinski (Venom—81) and the monster hairdo of George Nader (House Of A Thousand Dolls—67).
Guns go off, intrigue is toyed with, drugs are smuggled, laws are broken, men are turned into statues, Su Maru whips Nader (not hard enough!), a boat explodes and it's feckin great... Well, maybe I'm blinded by drink and attracted to the whole international black widow concept, but it's hard to believe Shonteff (The Fast Kill —72) could be responsible for such a kool movie. Which, despite its flaws and the inclusion of the ever annoying Avalon (in dopey Dr. Goldfoot And The Bikini Machine (66) mode) actually resembles an enjoyable film. Jess Franco's coy and kinky Future Women (AKA: Rio 70) is the partially related sequel.

When i was a kid i used to collect all these different comic books issues because i liked the drawings and the stories. The Million Eyes of Sumuru has a great plot and the lines look quite fine.
